Description:
It is well known that civilization has a huge impact on the environment. It is up to mankind to respect the world we live in and to establish sensitivity for the nature around us. To get people think about their very own detrimental effects on the environment is hard to archieve. Using people’s attraction for games is a very prospective possibility to get the people think about how to save the enviroment for their children. In the age of media computer games for training purposes are designed quite often, but it is not common to use computer games to establish environmental awareness. In cooperation with the Gschwandtner SPC GmbH the Department of Education and Human Development of the University of Vienna has developed a game based learning application for adults with the aim to do so. The motivation for this project arose from the European Center of Renewable Energy in Güssing. They experienced a need for a possibility to gain more information on this subject. The aim of this application was to pass on information on renewable energy to interested adults, who want to learn about renewable energy or who need the knowledge for building and living.
