The main research interests of the Vienna Media Education are:

• Educational theory of media

• Media didactics and e-learning

• Educational digital game research

• Media Education in school and extracurricular field

The research interests are implemented by basic research and projects in research, development and application.

Based on this main research interests we approach different problems by using different research methods (i.g. qualitative, quantitative, phenomenological, hermeneutical, transcendental, discourse analytic). By using this research methods, we try to establish a new understanding for the use of media in our society. In projects we work on a wide range of different research questions, like the development of online teaching material or game based learning applications. The Vienna Media Education tries to connect scientific studies with an educational design of different applications.
