Since its beginnings as an independent scientific discipline, pedagogy has been characterized by a specific, unquestionable relation to pedagogical practice. Contrary to popular expectations, this is not determined by the fact that science provides direct instructions for pedagogical action. Rather, educational science as a discipline and field of study is in a reciprocal, reflective relationship with pedagogical practice and profession, which again and again requires reflection and positioning. This is all the more so since the social and political framework conditions for this assessment change throughout history. The discussion in Austria about the "PädagogInnenbildung NEU" or the “education of educationists NEW” is a recent example.

 

The Department of Education intends to create a place on its homepage where information and contributions to discussions on activities in the field of the professionalization of pedagogical practice are made accessible. The pages are currently under construction.
