Mag. Dr. Karin Sardadvar

Dr. Karin Sardadvar is a Sociologist and Senior Lecturer in the Master's program in Gender Studies at the University of Vienna. Her main areas of research and teaching are “Work and Gender,” “Service Work,” “Time and Working Hours,” “Sustainable Work,” “Care,” and “Interpretive Theories and Methods.”

In the 2024/25 academic year, she held a Visiting Professorship for Interdisciplinary Gender Studies at the University of Potsdam. In the 2022/23 academic year, she represented the Chair of Gender and Globalization at the Albrecht Daniel Thaer Institute at Humboldt University in Berlin. From 2018 to 2025, she conducted research as a Senior Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute for Sociology and Empirical Social Research at the Vienna University of Economics and Business as part of the Elise Richter Program of the Austrian Science Fund FWF.

She has published in numerous scientific journals. She is a reviewer for various journals and was a member of the editorial board of the journal “Sociology” until 2025. Her work has been recognized with several awards, including the Award for Innovative Teaching from the Vienna University of Economics and Business and the Käthe Leichter Award for Women's Studies, Gender Studies, and Equality in the Workplace.
