Historical and Comparative School and Empirical Research

Historical and comparative school and education research comprises the analysis of school and education systems, their inherent  educational and socialization processes, and the representation and explanation of their tasks and actual performance. A central concern is how school and education processes can be understood empirically from various social, cultural, economic and political perspectives. A particular focus is on historically and empirically comparative curriculum research and the related question of how societal changes affect school and instruction formats, education careers and control mechanisms (standards, test, etc).
